She does not know
her beauty,
she thinks her brown body
has no glory.
If she could dance
naked
under palm trees
and see her image in the river,
she would know.
But there are no palm trees
on the street,
and dish water gives back
no images.

I feel that this is a Nice poem about the idea of beauty at least as it is portrait by Hollywood and the fashion industry this falls right in line with the the ideas of Felipe Andres Coronel who is better known by his stage name Immortal tTechnique. His ideas are presented in his song "Natural beauty" a part of the first verse is
"and if you healthy they make you think you're a manatee
Look how they invented this euro-centric insanity
Got you brain washed to the point you bleaching your skin
Blind to the truth, you can't see the beauty within
Cause ain't nothing wrong with exercise to tighten your thighs
But there's something wrong with contacts that lighten ya eyes

if one hasn't figured out what one of my favorite topic was it was when we spoke on what is beautiful although i did enjoy some topics more like topics that touched upon economics and shortcomings of capitalism.
